These food Christmas gift ideas are a collection of Missouri Girl Home recipes that are gluten free, budget friendly, and make the perfect edible Christmas gifts.
I love to make edible gifts to give to family, neighbors, and friends during the holidays.
What I do not love about a lot of food gifts are their short shelf life. Most seem to lose their flare after the first several days.
So here are my top 6 food gifts that will taste amazing, are long lasting, and…
Are you ready for this?
Gluten-free.
Yup.
Total accident though.
I wasn’t planning it, but realized it while composing a previous post for one of the food gifts. 6 food gifts, all in one list, and not one of them has gluten.
Crazy, huh?
Just be sure to double check the brands you are using if you are baking for someone that has a true gluten allergy, like Celiac Disease, as all of them are not created equally.
Hot Chocolate Spoons:
These are so fun! I first got the idea when I was Christmas shopping and saw these for sale.
Four chocolate covered spoons…for $6.
Homemade it is.
Start with a good quality chocolate bar or chocolate chips. Use whatever type of chocolate you prefer.
Fill a very small bowl with chocolate. I used a 3 oz ramekin.
Microwave until chocolate is just starting to melt, then stir until smooth. This one took about 1 minute in the microwave.
Dip a plastic spoon in the chocolate to fully coat. I used these glittery gold spoons that I had bought for New Years Eve the year before to pretty it up a bit.
Tap off the excess.
Then place them upright in a mug or jar filled with beans to allow the chocolate to set.
You can also sprinkle on some additional toppings while the chocolate is still soft like sea salt, glittery colored sugar, or sprinkles.

Hot Chocolate Marshmallows:
The steps for these are super simple. Melt chocolate in a very small, shallow bowl. I used an 8 oz ramekin. Put the marshmallow on a stick and dip it in the chocolate, making sure the marshmallow is fully coated. Put the chocolate marshmallow in a mug or jar of beans and allow the chocolate to set.

Vanilla Extract:

One of the first edible gifts I can remember giving were these little bottles of homemade vanilla extract.
This is one of my favorite gifts of all time.
Vanilla extract is extremely easy to make, but it does take some time so plan in advance.
I bought small decorative jars from Hobby Lobby on sale.
Fill the bottle with vodka then add vanilla beans that have been cut open (1 oz vanilla beans per 8 oz of vodka). Shake once a day for 1 month.
You can also make bourbon vanilla extract or brandy vanilla extract by changing out the alcohol. I use it in my pumpkin and pecan pies. It is amazing.
Happy Gifting!
